Users of Android Auto are still reporting audio issues when connecting the infotainment system to their smartphones. Threads in Google’s help forum and on Reddit highlight missing sound or stuttering audio transmission.
Affected users are utilizing various Android Auto systems and smartphones. Some encounter problems while using the in-car system, while others are using an external head unit. All affected users apparently updated their smartphones to Android 14 before experiencing these issues.
According to descriptions, sound completely cuts out for some users, regardless of the music app being used. For instance, one user reports that when using Spotify, the sound disappears even though Android Auto indicates the music is playing.
No sound or choppy audio
The issue seems to occur both in wireless connections between the Android Auto system and the smartphone and when connected via cable. Other users mention experiencing stuttering sound: the music plays but with choppy sound.
For some users, the display shows a different song than the one actually playing. Common workarounds include system reboots or reconnecting the smartphone and Android Auto.
Google requested further information in its help forum in mid-October 2023 to address the problem. However, error reports are still coming in, indicating that the issue hasn’t been resolved yet. Initially, most error reports came from Pixel smartphone users; as Android 14 gradually extends to other smartphones, devices like the Samsung Galaxy S23 are now also affected.
